Who Will be Niagara’s next Regional Chair?

Are you interested in who becomes the Chair of the Region of Niagara for the 2014-2018 term?

The MOU Chamber Group (All eight Chambers) has organized a candidate question period to be held in Niagara Falls this Wednesday December the 3rd at The Gale Centre – 4171 Fourth Avenue, 6:30 to 8:30 pm.

The Regional Chair is selected by Regional Council (which is made up of Mayors and elected Regional Councillors of the twelve municipalities) but the MOU group would like the process to be more "open and transparent" as it says the Chair is "responsible for setting the agenda for the peninsula’s largest government, with a staff of over 3,000 employees and a budget of more than $1 billion" and is the "highest-paid and one of the most important politicians in Niagara".

This is an opportunity to listen to what the candidates have to say. If you aren’t able to make it – Cogeco Cable will air the debate on the following dates:

Thursday December 4th at 4pm, and

Friday December 5th at 11am
