Town of Lincoln to hire for Economic Development Position

Lincoln Council has included in it’s 2013 budget funds to hire someone to help fill the Municipality’s needs for economic development.

The discussion centred on the needs of many areas of Lincoln’s business community, and changes being undertaken at the Regional level with economic development.

Lincoln has a number of large projects coming forward over the next few years (The construction of the Arena Library Complex and surrounding parkland, development of the abutting residential lands etc) and it was agreed by staff and Council that economic development must be a priority throughout.

Firstly, the budget must be finalized by Council on Monday December the 17th, 2012.

Following this, Council will receive a report (early 2013) with further recommedations and details, with a view to hiring mid-year.

Lincoln Choosing Design-Build Firm at Tonight’s Public Meeting

Tonight, Lincoln Council will recieve a recommendation report based on several months of intense scrutiny by Council and staff of the 30% designs submitted by three very strong competitors for the design and construction contract for the new arena/library complex.

In all likelihood, Council will make a decision tonight and show some of the drawings created by the chosen firm.

The meeting is public and is following our 7:00 budget meeting in Lincoln Council Chambers.
